Today we awoke to pouring rain on Ellie’s roof and a small leak on a side window. The rain gave us time to plan the next few days. We decided to travel towards Paris to an Aire at Nogent Le Roi. We want to visit the Palace of Versailles and this Aire is about 50Km away and one of the closest to Paris.
We set off but stopped after about 100m to buy some fresh Pomme au Raisin from the Patisserie. The French do make exceedingly good cakes!
We stopped off at a Carrefour supermarket to get some supplies and 3 hours later we arrived at the Aire in Nogent Le Roi. It is a small Aire with only 4 spaces, but importantly everything is free. Electric, water and there’s even some free wifi to connect to. Later we were joined by 2 other motorhomes, 2 on UK plates.
We decided that as the village was giving us all this for free we would take a walk to try to find a restaurant. Nothing was open. Only one restaurant was open but was closed for a private dinner. The only other place was a kebab shop.
So in the county most celebrated for its cuisine, we sat quite happily eating kebabs and chips. Well French fries anyway!
With the free electric hookup everything was put on charge overnight and we settled in for the night.
