After a very pleasant overnight sailing from Harwich to the Hoek of Holland we started our day early with a lovely English brekkie before disembarking from the ferry. Our general plan is to head towards Flavoland for a couple of days and then down to Keukenhof for the flower show on Tuesday as we’ve heard that the Bank Holiday weekend is particularly busy and full of children (not really our thing…!)
The first few miles after disembarking seem to be greenhouse after greenhouse and very beautifully kept gardens and houses. I did try programming the SatNav to take us on back roads, but it seems there aren’t any that actually go between places in the Netherlands so we kept ending up on motorways.
We found our way over to Almere Haven and had a couple of choices of places to stay. There are a couple of spaces in the local car park but we opted for the marina there which cost us €13 per night. This included electric hook up and WIFI but we got the impression this can change depending on the season. There were a few other motor-homers there, mainly German and Italians, not surprising really as it was a beautiful spot and very close to the town centre just 5 minutes away. We plan to wander over there tomorrow for the Saturday market.
